“To call it ‘fun’ would be a gross understatement,” said Tim.

As an executive with a major insurance company, and a recent pre-retirement transplant to Tucson, Tim does not deny that finding a home for retirement and moving to a new city amidst a pandemic has been a whirlwind. When we asked about the transition process, the seasoned executive was more than candid in his response.

“Going into this chapter of life, I expected things to start slowing down and get simpler, less interesting. But it’s been quite the opposite — it feels like I’m just getting started again! And to now be based in Arizona and directing that newfound energy into golf and travel – two of my passions – is a real joy.”

Tim’s dad taught him how to play golf in high school, after Tim had shown an interest in learning the game because
a girl he liked played on the golf team. Though that relationship never materialized, a passion for the game of golf – and an eventual association of that passion with travel — did. And as he has advanced through different stages of life, he’s brought his golf game along with him to provide a recreational outlet at every stage.

“I’m somewhat competitive – putting a few dollars at stake with some buddies is always fun. But it’s not why I play. It’s the peace that comes with being outside. It’s the appreciation of the landscape, the thought required to advance the ball strategically. At the end of the day, it really just boils down to a simple, pure love of the game itself.” said Tim. “I’ve always loved private clubs that don’t over-do it on anything aside from the golf experience. A focus on course conditions, a pride clearly taken in practice amenity set up, a knowledgeable, affable golf staff – I found all of those on my first visit to The Gallery Golf Club and The Golf Club at Dove Mountain.”

Since joining Icon 63, Tim has experienced and enjoyed what it means to belong to the Desert Southwest’s premier golf club, where he enjoys unlimited access to 63 holes of PGA Tour-quality golf (home of the WGC-Accenture Match Play on the PGA Tour for 8 years), a Sports Club with a complete offering of fitness and relaxation amenities, and full-service locker room and clubhouse experiences. And, with Icon Golf as part of his Icon 63 membership, the benefits extend well beyond Arizona, affording him full privileges at other premier golf clubs across the country, and a robust annual calendar of personalized vacations.

“What Icon 63 offers is second-to-none in terms of a high-touch, high-class, golf and travel membership. Even as someone who has been travelling to great golf destinations for a good while, Icon Golf continues to impress me with the exclusive experiences and levels of service provided.”
